Coincedence...I THINK NOT!

As many of you know we had a very hard time deciding on a name for Our Little Peanut. We had decided before going to the hospital that we wanted it to be Benson and unless he came out not really looking like a Benson then that is what is was going to be. The last few weeks before his arrival we both REALLY started to LOVE the name and when he was born, we knew that is what his name was supposed to be!

During our stay at the hospital they had us fill out Birth Certificate forms. Ryan filled them out and took them down to the desk with a check so we could recieve them in the mail. Upon his return he switched on the TV in our hospital room. I wasn't really paying any attention to what he was watching until he said, "Hey, look Brienne its a Planters Peanuts commercial." I watched with him, while we proceeded to talk about how we had called Benson Peanut for so long. At the middle of the commercial we were both in converstaion and not really paying much attention to the TV anymore. Then, the big planters peanut said something about the little one behind him(they were on a tandem bike). We both looked at eachother and started laughing. Look at the video from Youtube.com below to see if you can figure out what we thought was so funny! Listen Carefully and pay attention to the part where they are biking!

Did you catch it? We weren't sure at first and had to wait until we got home from the hospital to look up the commercial again and see. But, yes the little sidekick peanut's name JUST HAPPENS TO BE BENSON! Can you believe that? We couldn't and even after watching it a few times in awe, still weren't sure if we just thought that is what he was saying. So, we looked it up and found this quote in an article of the New York Times, "In addition to getting a voice, Mr. Peanut has a new sidekick, much like the Jolly Green Giant has Little Green Sprout. Mr. Peanut’s buddy is named Benson, and to make sure that snackers understand the pecking order between them, Benson is shorter than Mr. Peanut — one nut in his shell rather than two." Now do you believe us?!

Well, I guess it is a sign that we chose the RIGHT name for Our Little Peanut;) Although, Ryan and I both agreed that we are glad we didn't see that commercial until after naming Benson, as we may have felt a bit weird about REALLY naming our son after a Peanut!
